Abstract
Eyelid and orbital infections can complicate the clinical course of orbital and periorbital trauma such as fractures or lacerations. When associated with an intraorbital or intraocular foreign body, the risk of infection is significantly increased. Successful management of complicated orbitofacial trauma relies on a key understanding of complex injury patterns. The optimal outcome often requires close collaboration with the trauma service, infectious disease consultants, and other surgical subspecialties.
