Abstract
Jacob Nielsen has claimed that “The world is full of useless and frustrating software with functionality and user interfaces that could have been improved if their designers had used current usability engineering methods” This was in 1992, and also 24 years later this is still true. However, to understand the today’s challenges in evaluation of human-computer interaction, a brief look back at the development of software engineering and usability engineering is helpful.
