Governance Matters

Abstract

Governance is a surprisingly under-researched area of the Fire and Rescue Service (FRS). The Fire and Rescue Authority (FRA) is currently the governing body or board for the vast majority of Fire and Rescue Services (FRSs), and their role in terms of its governance has largely been neglected by academics. Very little is known about how governance operates in practice within Fire and Rescue Authorities. With the advent of Police and Crime Commissioners, this may well change, and Catherine Farrell seeks to bring the topic area under much-needed greater scrutiny.
