Abstract
Saha became member of Parliament in 1952. Since then he was very busy. He was a full-time Director of Indian Association for Cultivation of Science, Honorary Director of the Institute of Nuclear Physics (which was later renamed as Saha Institute of Nuclear Physics) and also a member of Parliament.There were agitations in Bengal due to possible merger between Bengal and Bihar according to State Reorganization Commission. He was in a very agitated state of mind. In early 1956, he suffered from high blood pressure. On 16 February 1956 in New Delhi on his way, he collapsed suddenly due to fatal stroke. It was an unfortunate end.
