    The “Planck oscillators” are different from the “virtual oscillators”; the latter are supposed to have frequencies equal to radiation frequencies \(\nu _{nm}\). The \(f_n\) are unrelated to the \(\nu _{nm}\).

  2. 2.

    William Duane was the first to point out that Einstein’s particle concept of photons is able to describe the so called “wave optical” observations, which had been interpreted to result from “interference phenomena”. Duane’s paper will be described later in more detail.
