Abstract
Rohatinski categorises the relations among economic processes into three types: causal relations, structural relations, and equilibrium relations. In this chapter he explores causal relations, which reflect changes in one or more economic variables that were influenced by changes in the value or structure of related independent variables. The author shows that causal relations, far from a mere mathematical connection between events, represent the transmission mechanisms for all economic activity.
