Abstract

The analysis of the major cycle of the development of the mammary lobes, following a very specific progression of growth, functionality and then involution is described.

The various aspects of lobar echography at the various stages in life are explained in detail, insisting on the variations in the ductal or lobular epithelial tissue.

The classification into three types of lobes, fatty, fibrous and glandular, makes it possible to understand correctly the evolutionary morphological types and their modifications in relation to events in a woman’s life.

Epithelial hyperplasia, which does not appear in this chapter, has another chapter devoted to it.
