Nipple-Areolar Complex Reconstruction

Abstract

Molluscum contagiosum is a skin lesion caused by a poxvirus that commonly affects young children or immunocompromised adults. Although cutaneous infection with molluscum contagiosum has been well described, occurrence in the nipple-areola complex is rare, and there is little data on the clinical presentation, disease course, and treatment methods of molluscum contagiosum lesions in these areas. This chapter reviews the characteristics of molluscum contagiosum and describes six cases of this viral infection occurring in the nipple-areola complex.
