Abstract

Recapitulating the arguments developed throughout the book in terms of political objectives, it seems evident that a struggle for equal rights between men and women must not only strengthen women’s individuality but also unveil the significance of relationality and bonding for men. Although a growing number of males are already incarnating independent individuality, patriarchy is constantly reinforced through all kinds of circuits. One of them is the construction of knowledge in today’s societies, with its overemphasis on scientific and technological facts at the expense of developing socially critical views. In these last pages, current trends in knowledge and the Internet are reviewed under the perspective of all the preceding arguments, and it is emphasized that only when Western society acknowledges the crucial importance of relational identity and emotional bonds as part of its survival mechanisms, there will be some hope for our future as well as a nonpatriarchal society.
