Abstract
Screw fixation of the medial malleolus in bimalleolar ankle fractures provides anatomic reduction of the medial malleolus. This technique is best for transverse or short oblique fractures of the medial malleolus. It can also be used in the case of fractures with comminution; however, bicortical fixation is necessary to prevent fracture displacement.
