Hypertension: Supravalvular Aortic Stenosis

  • Chapter
  • First Online:
Disorders of Blood Pressure Regulation

Abstract

Supravalvular aortic stenosis is a rare cause of hypertension. This chapter discusses the incidence, etiology, and pathophysiology of supravalvular aortic stenosis, which is an uncommon form of congenital cardiac disease. Possible clinical presentations, appropriate initial investigations, and follow-up are discussed. Finally, the current literature on the treatment for hypertension in the context of supravalvular aortic stenosis is reviewed.
