Abstract
Everybody seems to love quantum mechanics these days. Whether it’s the uncertainty principle, quantum teleportation, tunneling, parallel universes, entanglement, Schrödinger’s cat (poor thing)—buzz words from quantum physics abound in the popular imagination, in the works of science fiction, and in new-age inspired magazines and movies. For whatever reason, quantum physics appears to have struck a collective nerve. Within the physics community, in turn, this rare stardom enjoyed by one of its jewels has elicited the full gamut of emotions, ranging from opportunistic embrace to outright disgust. I myself confess to rather mixed emotions upon watching a movie like “What the Bleep do we Know.”
