Abstract
The introductory essay to the volume provides prefatory information regarding Magna Carta in Aotearoa New Zealand and outlines the Charter’s place in the context of the country’s post-settlement constitutional arrangements. It explores the key factors that explain why, in 2015, the 800th anniversary of a medieval English charter was celebrated in a post-colonial Pacific nation. Winter and Jones conclude by providing an overview of the volume’s content and anticipate key discussion themes raised by the book’s chapters.
