Abstract

The Introduction sets the background for what is being analyzed. This section incorporates information pertaining to the stop-and-frisk numbers, its growth, and some of its negative effects on the communities hit hardest by the practice. Questions are then raised about the inherent contradictions found between the stated purpose of the practice and policy versus the findings from the stop-and-frisk database. This is followed by and explanation for doing this research and the progression of the ensuing chapters.
