Abstract
Although the EU implemented its EU Data Protection Directive already back in 1995, the data protection standard among the various EU Member States had not been harmonised satisfactorily. In order to improve this situation, the General Data Protection Regulation has been adopted. It is directly applicable within the EU Member States, has a transnational scope of application and provides for numerous new or reinforced data protection obligations. This chapter contains a ‘checklist’, showcasing the most important requirements under the new law.
