Abstract

Balloon-assisted maturation (BAM) is an aggressive approach to arteriovenous fistula (AVF) maturation failure in which repeated long-segment angioplasty is used to sequentially dilate that portion of the vein destined to become the AVF. This procedure has been around for a long time; however, more recently the approach has been more aggressively applied. This chapter discusses such a case.
