Abstract
This chapter discusses what is unfortunately a common situation in the environment of dialysis catheter over-use - a patient in whom the sites of choice for catheter palcement are no longer available. In these cases, a careful examination may discover a cervical vein that can be used because it has become more prominent with the loss of other conduits for venous drainage from the head and neck. Angiographic evaluation will answer the question as to whether such a vein can be used for the palcement of a dialysis catheter.
