Dialysis Access Cases

Abstract

Vascular access in long-term hemodialysis patients is an evolving and increasingly complex situation facing vascular access surgeons. Central stenosis from repeated and long-term catheter use is the primary complication necessitating new techniques and technology to provide reliable and durable long-term internal access for these patients. This chapter will focus on several new advancements and highlight preexisting, but less commonly used, techniques to provide long-term hemodialysis access in this challenging patient population.
