A Quest Towards a Mathematical Theory of Living Systems

Abstract

This chapter is devoted to the derivation of mathematical models of large systems of active particles which move and interact in space. The content focuses mainly on crowd dynamics; however, the dynamics of multicellular systems are also treated and some perspective ideas are given on vehicular traffic and swarms. The modeling approach is based on the use and developments of the mathematical structures proposed in Chapter 3.
