Cranial Nerve VIII: Vestibulocochlear

Abstract

The eight cranial nerve, the vestibulocochlear nerve (CN VIII) contains the cochlear and the vestibular nerves (superior and the inferior division) that exit antero-laterally from the ponto-medullary junction in the cerebellopontine angle and reach the internal auditory canal. The anatomical course, its function, pathology and major clinical syndromes are described.
