Abstract
Physical activity and rehabilitation are cornerstones for prevention of cardiovascular disease and for the treatment of PAD in elderly. Supervised, aerobic, near-maximal pain exercise should be part of the treatment of patients with PAD and IC: it improves the risk factors and general physical capability to walk for longer distance and ameliorates the quality of life and disease-specific walking impairment in elderly patients with PAD.
