Abstract

Operational planning and management of resources in the emergency services are closely related to the decisions made in the strategic level. This paper aims to understand how strategic location models could affect the performance of an emergency vehicles management system and the quality of its services at the operational level. Using simulation, many comparison tests were performed, and results show that partial coverage based models for locating emergency stations has positive impact on response times compared to P-median based models.
