Abstract
If one of the key goals of positive psychology is to have an impact on reducing worldwide depression and anxiety, then sport has a part to play. Sport is an exciting platform to introduce the benefits of positive psychology to the general community because it crosses boundaries whether they be geographical, religious, education level, gender, age or financial. It provides an avenue to create worldwide positive impact on how we process failures, how we recognize and use our strengths and our levels of resilience and optimism. Sport also has the benefit of high profile role models who, if they learn to build their own optimism and resilience through positive psychology practices, will become powerful advocates to the general population.
