Abstract

Hypertension (HT) is an important issue in the care of chronic kidney disease (CKD) patients as it is an important determinant of the progression to end-stage renal disease and to protect against cardiovascular disease. Blood pressure (BP) control rate in CKD patients remains low despite greater efforts spent on this area. Antihypertensive drug nonadherence is a significant factor among other known factors making BP difficult to control. Despite several methods to detect adherence, reliability problems still are a matter of fact. This chapter focuses on adherence problems and practical solutions to improve the adherence in hypertensive patients with CKD.
