Abstract

Given the different factors affecting the Syrian diasporic media seeking to find pathways in Egypt, it was imperative to understand steps being taken to build and sustain journalistic media about Syria by Syrians themselves as the growth of reliable journalism is of the highest importance for Syrians themselves and for those who wish to understand what is truly happening. Therefore, this chapter seeks to investigate relevant areas of questioning, like Syrian journalists’ professional ideology in the country of origin and how this affects their reception, handling, and evaluation of local Syrian news in their host country. How do they use new communication technologies and to what extent do they consider themselves as Syrian activists in the diaspora and during the civil Syrian conflict?
