Abstract
Most parents want to think their child a gifted. That is generally considered a norm. But there is a difference between a high-achieving pupil in school and a child who is intellectually gifted. Discovering giftedness in the early school years is not always an easy task. However, gifted children have special traits that may help identify them among other pupils. For the last century thousands of papers and books have been written about gifted pupils. There is hardly something that can be added to them. The contribution of this paper is the Bulgarian experience in mathematics competitions for the discovery, the progress, the development and the manifestation of gifted pupils.
