Abstract
Introduction. Describes the primary belligerents—Byzantines and Bulgarians—in the hegemonic wars and their assorted allies—Serbs, Croats, Magyars, Pechenegs, and Kievan Rus’. Also includes overviews of all belligerents’ military and political organizations, defensive technologies (fortifications), armaments, and tactics.
