Oral Mucosa in Health and Disease

Abstract

The knowledge gained from the new technologies that have unravelled the genetic background of humans in health and disease has generated new methodologies that enable in-depth analysis of genetic predispositions to disease and the effects of gain or loss of function of genes in the context of disease mechanisms. In the concluding chapter the authors signpost exciting trends in oral mucosal research which herald new potentials for translational research within this maturing field.
