Abstract
Lowest vibration modes of strongly inhomogeneous layered elastic structures are studied. A perturbation procedure is developed for evaluating the almost rigid body motions of stiffer components. The procedure is adapted for the antiplane motion of a two-layered cylindrical body of arbitrary cross section. The asymptotic formulae for lowest natural frequencies are derived. Illustrative examples are presented, including comparison with the exact solution of the eigenvalue problem for a two-layered circular cylinder.
