Abstract
It is an essential understanding that before a system of governance can be classified and accepted as democratic, the principle of separation of powers into the different arms of government—which is one of the main prerequisites that has been laid down since the time of Herodotus when concept was first invented—must be established. This belief is shared by all writers on the subject, despite their differences of opinion with respect to definitions, as earlier.
