Egypt in Crisis

Abstract

Arafat analyses how Morsi’s policies paved the way for the opposition to join forces with the military to remove the MB from power. He also discusses the different opposition movements that opposed the MB and Islamists . Morsi’s strategy for combating the June 30 protest is also detailed in this chapter. The Salafist Call and Al-Nour’s reactions to the June 30 protest and the removal of Morsi from power are also explored. This chapter ends with an exploration of the future challenges facing the Salafist Call. ‘The Fall of Islamism’ concludes that the 2013 military intervention has weakened the Egyptian opposition forces for decades to come.
