Abstract

The transfemoral access route remains the first choice for the treatment of patients with peripheral occlusive disease. Distal pedal access techniques allow treatment of complex crural and distal popliteal arterial occlusive disease in cases of transfemoral recanalization failure, with relatively low complication rates. The outcome strongly depends on the experience of interventional centers and individual interventionalists.
