Abstract

Due to some conditions of historical nature, as well as those of political and economic character (the economic system based on central management and state ownership), the history of protection of geographical indications has not been long in Poland. Although geographical indications have been protected by the Polish law since 1919, it is only in the recent years that registration of Polish geographical indications at the EU level has been of interest.
