  • Chapter
  • First Online:
Book cover Consumer Law and Socioeconomic Development

Abstract

On any consumer market, being national, regional, or international, three major concerns are driving interventions by the legislator designed to increase consumers’ protection against the risks linked to the use of products or services that may prove to be unsafe. GCC member countries are currently taking initiatives aiming to consolidate the legislative and institutional framework for consumer safety and market surveillance. The intent is to put applicable laws and existing practices in conformity with internationally-admitted standards.
