Abstract

Long intergenic noncoding RNAs (lincRNAs) are generally long transcripts of more than 200 nucleotide (nt) that lack a coding sequence (CDS) or open reading frame (ORF); now the functions of plant lincRNAs remain largely unknown. In this chapter, we describe a computational pipeline to identify the function of lincRNAs based on the relationship between miRNAs and lincRNAs. In our method, lincRNA–mRNA co-expression networks and the ceRNA hypothesis are used to infer the function of lincRNAs as miRNA targets and lincRNAs as miRNA decoys, respectively.
