Abstract

Orientation propensities in electron/positron–atom and proton/antiproton–atom collisions are discussed. The current understanding of the origin and the range of validity of these rules is investigated. It is shown how this analysis may yield deeper insight into the collision dynamics responsible for electron excitation, de-excitation, and transfer in atomic collision processes.
