Abstract
Breast reduction surgery and mastopexy represented a great evolution over the course of decades. There is a substantial number of scientific papers, with a great diversity of behaviors, but where certain maneuvers are fundamental in their execution. Some of these maneuvers are old, and the techniques already established, which makes it difficult to know who originated them. With better knowledge of the anatomy of the breast came the possibility of a more daring approach on the part of surgeons, providing better postoperative results with regard to shape, the extent of scars, and the maintenance of these qualities for longer periods.
The author presents in this paper a summary of the details of these various techniques, which enabled throughout his professional life a personal approach to mammaplasty, ensuring the shape, minimal scarring, and the maintenance of results for longer periods of time.
