Peixoto’s Technique for Reduction Mastoplasty

Abstract

Dr. Gerardo do Rego Peixoto (Fig. 18.1) was born in Carape-Redençāo, in the state of Ceará, but it was in Salvador/Bahia that he obtained his medical degree from the prestigious Faculdade de Medicina da Bahia in 1956. For a few years, he practiced medicine as an acknowledged general surgeon, but was soon seduced by the new and puissant medical specialty that was flourishing, mainly because of Prof. Ivo Pitanguy in Rio de Janeiro. Therefore, he went to Rio to become specialized under Prof. Pitanguy in the mid-1960s and returned to Salvador in 1968, when his winning trajectory as a plastic surgeon began.
