Muslim Brotherhood and the Presidential Elections

Abstract

Here an analysis of the relationship between the 2012 presidential election and the fall of Islamism and the MB from power is attempted. It focuses on the MB and their desire to monopolize power by hijacking the presidential seat after having won the majority of seats in the parliament . This chapter argues that, in the eyes of the military, the nomination of the MB candidate in the 2012 elections was the most dangerous sin ever committed by the MB. “The MB and the Presidential Elections” concludes with a discussion of the widening of the gap between the MB and almost all the other political actors such as the military, the liberals, and the Copts , who join with the military to remove Morsi and the MB.
