Spinal Angiography and Intervention

Abstract

When compared to cerebral angiography, spinal angiography is performed infrequently. Steps and techniques are described to enable the study to be performed efficiently. Pre-planning is desirable to reduce contrast load, fluoroscopy exposure, and time spent performing procedure. Spinal interventional procedures can be curative, palliative, or facilitate less bloody open surgery, e.g., for spinal metastasis. Meticulous attention to detail is imperative during interventions as an oversight or embolic event may result in devastating complications.
