The aim of this chapter is to present key vulnerability assessments along with measurement of socio-economic vulnerability. There are two main approaches to vulnerability assessments. One is impact-based approach and other is vulnerability-based. This chapter discusses first generation and second generation vulnerability assessments along with the study of vulnerability by security diagram and Fuzzy Inference system. In addition this paper attempts to measure the socio-economic vulnerability for drought, coastal and mountain regions of West Bengal.
