Abstract
In this brief concluding chapter I do three things. First, I provide a concise summary of the main arguments advanced in the book, drawing together the threads of the previous chapters. Second, I consider some of the ways in which the limitations outlined previously may be overcome in teaching and research. Third, I examine more closely the theme of change over time, arguing that rather than this being a linear process there are many areas where changes move in different directions, sometimes contradictory or circular in nature.
