Abstract
Phototherapy in a hospital or office setting can be inconvenient and unfeasible for some patients. A patient is a candidate for home phototherapy if he/she has had a successful trial of outpatient phototherapy, is compliant and reliable, and has had proper education for use of a phototherapy unit. Home phototherapy should be conducted with close monitoring and follow up with the dermatologist. Today, various types of phototherapy units are available from numerous suppliers, and for the physician, an increasing number of resources are now available to increase knowledge and ease of prescribing home phototherapy units.
