Abstract

Madagascar has an exceptional biodiversity which is characterized by a high level of endemisms with a remarkable variety of bioclimates and habitats, including humid forests, dry deciduous forests, dry thicket forests, littoral forests, coastal zones and central high mountains. Malagasy natural forests are renowned for precious woods, which are a main forest product with a considerable added value on both international and national markets.
