Abstract

This chapter discusses the dynamics of the glaciers of Georgia by periods of individual decades since the LIA to the present day. The rates of old glaciers are reconstructed based on the micro-stade moraines; also the topographic maps of the 19–20th centuries and the modern satellite images (Landsat/ASTER) are used. Valley glaciers are grouped into different categories according to their retreat speeds.
