Abstract
This chapter will lay a foundational knowledge regarding commercial nuclear power plants in the USA and their potential risks. This chapter will primarily cover the historical development of the US commercial nuclear power plants and their significance in American history. Further, it will also cover commercial nuclear power plants which are currently in operations throughout the USA. A discussion on risks associated with US commercial nuclear power plants will follow, in addition to covering some of the inevitable risks associated with nuclear power plant facilities. Finally, it proposes a conceptual framework to minimize the risks stemming from the US commercial nuclear power plants for the future of risk management as it pertains to nuclear power.
