Abstract
This chapter describes in detail the measurements of quarkonium polarization with the CMS detector. The general analysis strategy, applicable to all the CMS quarkonium polarization analyses, is described in Sect. 4.1, while the details of the individual analyses are described in Sects. 4.2 and 4.3, for the analysis of the polarizations of the \(\Upsilon (nS)\) and prompt \(\psi (nS)\) states, respectively. These measurements were conducted in a team effort, involving undergraduate and graduate students, as well as senior scientists, from several institutions, including HEPHY (Vienna, Austria), CERN (Geneva, Switzerland), LIP (Lisbon, Portugal) and PKU (Beijing, China).
