Abstract
This chapter begins by overviewing the main findings of this book. It then proceeds to highlight four stabilizers that help to account for the persistence of the Anglo-American special relationship (AASR) in the post-Cold War era, including mutual reciprocity, congenial partnership, embedded habits of cooperation and recurrent common threats. Finally, it analyses some challenges the AASR may face for the coming decades, including the US’s pivot to the Asia-Pacific region, the UK’s shrinking military capability, decline of Anglo-Saxon population in the USA and the forthcoming European Union (EU) referendum in the UK.
