Family Euryplacidae Stimpson, 1871

Abstract

Carapace transversely rectangular, quadrate or trapezoid, dorsal surface smooth, region not well defined, anterolateral margins arched, nearly straight, with one to three teeth in addition to exorbital tooth. Eyestalks short to long, orbital hiatus usually closed by basal antennal segment. Third maxillipeds completely covering buccal cavern, merus quadrate with anterolateral angle angular. Chelipeds relatively large, fingers usually narrow, longer than palm. Walking legs slender and long, without spines, serrated with setae. Abdomen of males and females with seven free-moving somites. G1 long, slender, straight or slightly curved, tapering distally; G2 short, less than one third length of G1, apical part with two unequal acute or obtuse processes. Genital opening of males coxo-sternal, large with prolonged penis. Genital opening of females sternal.
