Management and Therapy of Late Pregnancy Complications

Abstract

The abstract is published online only. If you did not include a short abstract for the online version when you submitted the manuscript, the first paragraph or the first 10 lines of the chapter will be displayed here. If possible, please provide us with an informative abstract.

As a result of a number of factors, including likely the influence of ASA recommendations for obstetric anaesthesia, there has been a widespread shift away from general anaesthesia and towards regional anaesthesia for caesarean section. General anaesthesia is now used predominantly for emergency caesarean section and appears to be associated with higher rates of serious and life-threatening complications.
